It is important to always keep your operating system update in order to keep it running properly. Here is how you can update Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista installations.<\/p>\n

  1. Open Windows Start menu<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Open the Control Panel<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Go to System and Security<\/strong> > Windows Update<\/strong> > Check for updates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Select Check for updates<\/strong> from the menu on the left side.<\/li>\n
  5. If compatible updates are found, to download and install updates, click the Install updates<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Windows Update may display a message that says \u201cNo important updates available\u201d if no important updates are found. Additionally, you will have the option to install optional updates. To install optional updates<\/em>, click optional updates available<\/strong>, select the optional updates you want to install and click OK<\/strong>. Then, click the Install updates<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

    To stop an update<\/em>, click the Stop download<\/strong> button. To resume an update<\/em>, click the Try again<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

    To change how Windows can install updates, go to Control Panel<\/strong> >\u00a0System and Security<\/strong> > Windows Update<\/strong> > Change settings<\/strong>. In the Important updates section, click the drop-down menu. There are four options to choose from:<\/p>\n
