How to confirm OSX and Transmission is hiding real IP

Hi,

I'm a little confused on how to confirm that your IP address is hidden when using a torrent client.

I'm using OSX and Transmission as my Torrent client. With the VPN connected I can see that what my IP is address is by going to a site such as whatismyip.com

When I use a facility like checkmytorrentip I can see that the Tracker IP in Transmission is the same as my IP address on whatismyip.com

Does this mean Transmission is successfully using the VPN and my true IP identify is safe?

You could do this, disconnect from the VPN and go to this site http://ipleak.net you should see the IP, DNS assigned to your by your ISP, activate the Torrent Address detection this test should also return the IP assigned to you by your ISP. Now connect to the VPN refresh the page and re-run the Torrent Address detection test, now instead of your ISP assigned IP you should see the IP of your VPN connection.

I love ipleak.net - another excellent tool from AirVPN, along with mywhisper.net and others. OP as long as the IP matches your VPN's public IP (NOT your ISP one!) you're good to go.
