    I am able to ping the proxy server without any issue.

    Can you let us know if you're trying to use the Proxy in conjunction with the VPN, or just the Proxy by it's self? I ask because it is not necessary to use the proxy at all if you are already connected to the VPN, as all the proxy does is mask your IP address, which the VPN already does.

    For the proxy, please ensure that your settings match the settings listed below. If you have difficulties try entering the IP address instead of the servername in your connection settings. If you still have issues try regenerating the SOCKS5 username/password. More information listed below

    Generating a Password for SOCKS5:
    Log in to the CLIENT CONTROL PANEL. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/
    Click the Generate Password button under the Generate PPTP/L2TP/SOCKS Password section.
    A Username starting with "x" and a random Password will be shown.
    You must use this username and password to login to PPTP, L2TP, or SOCKS5.
    Please refer to the PPTP/L2TP/SOCKS guides in our SUPPORT SECTION in order to use these credentials.

    Now the proxy is working again.
