Virtually EVERY PIA Gateway Now Blacklisted By Dime-A-Dozen & Public Trackers

I have tried Toronto, North York, Switzerland, US East, US West, US Florida, and a couple others - every IP address I get is blocked.  Additionally, I'm seeing most of the public trackers no longer accessible.

  • This would not be as much of a problem if a user could CHANGE the IP they get when they connect to a gateway.

Beyond ALL else, if this issue with blacklisting and repeated same IP issuance is not resolved, there is no way I can/will continue with PIA.  Which is a shame.
  • Stating an opinion is not slander. Some of the other VPN companies have bypassed these blocks with DNS routing.

OP, it shouldn't matter anyway as long as you're using DHT and peer exchange. Trackers are pretty redundant these days.
  • I see no "slander" in my statements - they are statements of fact - the fact that even PUBLIC trackers have been blacklisting PIA's IPs is LONG known (and well documented on this forum).  I'm pointing out the fact that there is an inherent problem in a USER (who is PAYING for the service) not being able to change the issued IP

all I do to change ips is switch server locations. maybe the blocking has something to do with the way the pia system is set up. you more than likely have hundreds of people using any one ip at a given time. pia will never give up its unique shared ip system
  • the trackers just block pools of IP addresses.  changing IP won't help unless you happen on one they didn't include in the pool.

  • @cosmoxl - no not every time, but it is certainly better than no option at all.

  • well, as has been said in another thread, PIA doesn't have a huge pool of IP addresses to use and discard when it gets old.  they just cycle through the same ones.  it's not their fault - it's an IPv4 problem

I don't agree that that is an issue.
  • I always get a new IP when I exit out of the client.
  • Should not have to exit out every time - and I have seen that that does not always happen anyway.

  • I've been able to use TPB, Demonoid, and isohunt...

Havent looked into more, only was blocked by one tracker so far.
  • Are you referring to Dime A Dozen bootleg site ? I have been trying to register as a new user from different locations and they only accept me as a guest, they do not accept me as an active user. They keep on suspecting me of having an account with them already. how does this work ?

I just joined that, had no trouble in the least. Try turning off the service for joining there? Looks like a great site, I have a bunch I can contribute. I used to send them up alt.mp3s.bootlegs.binaries, haha, remember NewsGroups? There may be a way to get to them, but most ISPs have shut down access. I used Agent to get in there.
