Why wouldn’t the CIA/NSA/GCHQ setup a honeypot VPN? If they did, what would their plan of action look like? Something like this?
- Form a holding company in the US to hide the true ownership
- Find a frontman to be the public face of the operation
- Start with a big budget and advertise everywhere
- Be one of the cheapest VPN providers to attract as many customers as possible.
- Tell everyone you have “no logs” so they feel safe.
- Log everyones real IP address and use secret monitoring tools..
Notice how he is passive aggressive. He doesn't mention pia by name yet that is precisely what he is talking about

He is clearly of the opinion that if you cannot win fairly, change the subject and/or cheat until you can. He absolutely cannot win fairly, so he sows FUD to make people think they are not actually protected. This may work, but only if he could demonstrate some actual evidence beyond a hypothesis
There is no danger in his claims. That can only change if he manages to find some real evidence that supports this claim. Namely the last point must be show true. Until he shows that PIA secretly logs, anyone with half a brain will see through this.
