  • How do you find out how many servers there are? Whats the url
  • And we wonder WHY speeds are down???!

  • Hello all.

We cycle IPs amongst our servers as load demands. During extended periods of low server load (a month or more), we may cycle some IPs away from certain gateway clusters for use on others, to maintain network stability, and to optimize speed network-wide. This is done regularly to ensure the best customer experience possible for all customers on our service, and we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused for anyone.

That still doesn't explain why 285 servers and 285,000mbps bandwidth disappeared from the Toronto gateway.
  • Hello robert_lazar,

As Vulpes previously mentioned, the ip's and bandwidth were reassigned to other locations to increase the servers and increase the bandwidth load as some of them were experiencing slowness and high utilization. The same number of total servers and bandwidth has not changed. It was felt that the Toronto location was able to afford the downgrade in bandwidth and not have a huge impact in that location to assist other locations that were have speed issues. This is done on a regular bases. I hope this better explains why the change was made.

Some users are already reporting speed problems with Toronto.

That's probably why it is happening with Texas server because I and several of my friends are getting location in Los Angeles instead of Houston, Dallas, or Austin, even though we all clicked on Texas server.  I'm sure it will be fixed soon, the latency kind of sucks.  Maybe we're stealing all the Toronto servers soon! Haha

I find it odd that Toronto has 1,000 servers, the most of any locations for PIA.  Why is that? Is it because of so many people in Toronto mega area (Detroit, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ottawa) uses that?
  • Toronto is popular because it is used for p2p traffic. Amanah tech is the host for the Toronto servers and they don't really care about dmca notices.
