some UDP trackers cant establish connection with ssh proxy
it doesnt really matter that much, as I also run the VPN, so my IP Is still protected without the proxy. but I figured bringing this up would be useful to see if it was just an incompatibility with the proxy or some other issue.
but I DO run the proxy as a second line of defense generally, and I've noticed that some UDP trackers (RARBG is one) can't establish connection, but ONLY when the socks5 proxy is used.
if I go and disable the proxy in the settings it connects blazingly fast -- showing that it is NOT the VPN IP being blocked. it is specifically the proxy failing to connect to these addresses.
DHT works fine, and IK http trackers work fine. there may or may not be some udp trackers that do work, I will have to test more to figure this out -- but I do know a wide swath of torrents, specifically with udp trackers, dont connect well and only use DHT. now I have become aware it is the proxy at cause, not the servers being down (most times).
I checked firewall settings (even disabled all firewall and malware blocking) and found that it truly was the proxy causing the connection failure after messing around a bit to see what really caused it.
this may just be a limitation of the proxy -- I was reading somewhere that there needs to be some kind of 'dante' socks5 protocol or something for udp trackers to be truly supported via proxy -- but this may be BS,
so for now, I have the proxy disabled and use the killswitch, which should still be enough for privacy. Like I said, its not a huge deal as long as the VPN can connect to stuff, and a proxy alone isnt enough for privacy anyway...

What you're currently using with just the VPN and the Kill Switch should provide you all the protection you need, but for investigating the SOCKS5 Proxy I'd have to suggest emailing [email protected] with what you're seeing so that they can try to replicate the issue and verify whether it's an issue with the whole SOCKS5 region, or specific IPs within it. Our agents will be able to get back to you with possible steps to try and information to provide while they attempt to track down the cause!
some, like exodus.desync are just down -- I dont generally have problems with public trackers -- if its private your into, then that may be the problem too -- many block VPNs
