Suggestion for the client

edited July 2015 in Feedback
Hello,

Now that PIA is becoming bigger and bigger with more servers we can choose to connect, the client is becoming kinda messy with the long list of servers displaying in one column, I would suggest for the client to separate servers by regions or something similar, people with small resolutions, take forever to find the server they want to connect.

Just a suggestion from one long time client.

  • Hello Alexa

Thank you for your suggestion. I actually really agree with you on this suggestion. I will make sure your feedback is sent to our dev team for consideration.

WOW! That was fast, one hour after posting this, the long list of servers disappeared, a lot less messy now. It's ok now, going on settings and picking a server and then use the connect button, but I still I would like to pick the server when I right click on the client, but, instead of a giant list, they should be separated by regions (continents). I do not always connect to the same "country" everytime I use the PIA VPN.

Other than that, what an awesome job you're doing by taking into consideration the costumers feedback, kudos for that.

    Cheers!
  • I think some sort of server load indicator would be nice for the client so we can choose a fast server each time we log on.

Not sure what you are seeing, but I still see the same list of servers even after a restart and re-install of the client trying to see what you are talking about in your post.
Yeah I'm seeing as I used to before, coincidently, after I did the post I opened the client and I was only seeing the options: "connect, disconnect, connect auto, settings and exit" I thought they were changing the client right away, apparently it was only my client that was going cuckoo.
You mean something (a concept idea) like this? (rough quick mock-up below)

And yes, exactly what I was suggesting! :)
  • I removed the PIA Info Utility from the Dropbox link I was hosting. Too bad it could not have worked out.
  • That was actually a concept thing (mock-up updated quickly for your post response and to reflect the newer PIA gateways) that was going to be included in a version of the 'PIA Information Tool' VPN utility series that our contract IT guy was developing for free release for PIA users here.

Unfortunately, we had to discontinue the free 'PIA Information Tool' series releases before it was actually finished or really got off the ground, even though we did release some betas and a version of the basic continuing developmental framework version here at PIA. An idiot (a past PIA customer) decided he was going to tamper with its code to change some labeling things around so he could sell it by representing it for use on other VPN services. We intended it to be free and for PIA VPN user customers exclusively. He contacted me and asked if we would do a 'pay for use' version for other VPN services and if he could be its 'exclusive' distributor, we declined and he threw a temper tantrum about it and started to threaten all sorts of things including trying to take the PIA forums off line (DDOS attacks I guess) so we could not distribute it here. So, even though it was released freely here, it was still our intellectual property which he took intending to, and did, use it as a means to defraud us and others. So, being a law firm, as part of protecting ourselves from the potential liability he then tried to strong arm us with, and prevent the harmful fraud upon those he would, and did in several cases, inflict such, we decided to not release any more versions of the 'PIA Information Tool' series and ceased development on it for other than our own internal use purposes, but that's not all we decided, he inhabits a jail cell now for a few years for fraud. We managed to locate several upon which he had manged to inflict his harmful fraud, we gave them their money back from the revenue he had to forfeit, plus he had to pay us a damages amount and our fee costs. What was left in the forfeit amount after giving those several their money back, and what we got in the damages and our fee costs, we donated to a children's charity.
lrryie was this guy that did all that maybe from vikingvpn? The utility concept was a good idea
  • Provide adequate set up information for OS X/Mac. One post on the forms that fully covers any possible settings on the two latest versions of OS X.

Have tech support stop posting answers to my questions by copy/pasting their answers from the very forumz that I've been scouring for hours. It may be late at night and on a weekend but there's nothing more discouraging to me when I am directly speaking with "the VPN experts" and they cannot directly answer any questions I ask about the product they're supporting.

Having said all that I do appreciate
