Please update your windows client for Windows 10

There is the problem with 'auto-start' not working.

You may say, Windows 10 is not released yet.

There is even an OEM build out

  • That was not the information I got from a torrent.

There are people that leak windows builds especially people like Wzor

    Still,

There shouldn't be much of a difference between the latest Microsoft official release insider build and the release on 29th in terms of networking and related. So, I think it is safe to say that PIA can release a fixed client sooner than wait till next month. Just saying.

  • Windows releases have always been available online before you could get one legitimately.

This was even true back in the BBS days when you used a dial up modem to connect to one of many little BBS systems that hosted a copy of Windows 3.1 you could use to make your own floppy disk copy of Windows.

Free advice is usually worth the price, nonetheless I am going to offer the advice that you should wait until later to seek a new OS.
  • Can we not argue about the definition of RTM? Microsoft kindly released early builds for developers to get a head start on updates, just as they always had for their business partners. Further, substantial changes to the Windows code that late in the development cycle which could have possibly broken compatibility is not likely, about as likely now when you consider their new continually-updated Windows release cycle.

Now I'm sitting here on the official release and am experiencing the automatic start issue as described in the OP and this is the only thread I have found discussing it. Understandably a minor issue, this wouldn't have happened if the developers were more progressive, assuming this issue has existed since at least the original 10240 build from two weeks ago.
  • By the way, anyone upgrading to Windows 10 should read up about the default privacy settings shipped with this distro, they are abysmal.
  • You could be right about the task scheduler, I didn't see any PIA listing and created one manually.

While I agree entirely, I do have a question. Every Windows or any other OS install has problems we have to fix. Is Windows 10 unfixable at this time?

The answer does not really matter. I will never "rent" an OS from anyone for any price, and that is what Windows 10 has always sounded like to me.

Nonetheless I ask so I will know what to tell everyone I communicate with about such things.

Omni I'm shocked you aren't talking more about this, considering your criticism of Chrome for this exact same reason. According to ExtremeTech, "[Microsoft] now hoovers up your data in ways that would make Google jealous."

Microsoft will essentially have access to everything you do, type, and say as well as every web site you ever visit. What's more, they state clearly in their 'privacy' policy that they can disclose or even sell anything they gather from you to anyone they want, anytime they want.

I think you explained this one yourself. I do not read up on the Internet about an OS I will not every buy or use. I only asked here because I figured I would get information that is genuine rather than the garbage the rest of the Internet is mostly made of.

    And I did. ;)

Fuck Manicshaft and their PoS OS.
  • Lmao that is just scary.
  • Yeah. I did not make that image obviously, but it tells a tale that should be required reading to use a PC.
  • Excellent summary!

     Thank you Omni! :-)
  • I assume this has not been fixed yet? My PIA crashes explorer.exe and doesn't boot with Windows 10
  • I have a clean install of Windows 10 and reinstalled PIA multiple times. PIA won't start with Windows and whenever I connect to something explorer.exe crashes and so does PIA. Sometimes the icon will be gone but I'm still connected.
  • 2nd that. Windows 10 it appear to load and work but there is no start up when windows is run from off. and with other protections in pia settings there is no internet. thats ok but would like it to start with windows.

    Minsik
  • Ditto. I can install PIA and get it to run and connect, but I have no internet. It also wont run at startup anymore in Win10 even though it's included in the startup routine.
