Ready to switch from Windows to Linux? Start here.
At this time this is a placeholder for content that I have yet to write. Linux users are most welcome to add any input they think is useful.
Linux is really quite easy to use. You can grab a copy of my favorite distribution free of charge from http://linuxmint.com/ and run it directly off a CD/DVD or even a flash drive. You do not have to install it if you do not want to. But if you decide that you like it, you can install at any time and use it free forever. And in almost every possible case it will be much faster and easier if you do install it.
My elderly mother can use this without any trouble. And regardless of your capacity, I bet you can too.

i7 processor, 8GBs of RAM, and an AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphic card,
loading takes less than a second."
I am going to do a tutorial on how to install Debian Linux, currently ranked #2 on http://distrowatch.com/ within a Virtual Machine for use or evaluation.
This guide was so well made that I came back here to share. I am going away again now. Be well everyone.
