QUESTION for irryie,or anyone, about the tor browser running over the vpn

forgive me if this question sounds stupid but I would like to know if you can run the tor browser over the vpn while the vpn is running.

  • I don't see why not, that's what I prefer to do. Two layers is always better than one, and this would also prevent a malicious guard node from being used to confirm your traffic

Are you saying people set up fake tor nodes in order to hack and attack?, also, When you connect to the tor browser while on the vpn is the first tor node seeing the vpn ip?

Im not an expert and at times all this stuff confuses me.

Yes they do. If an adversary were to control both your guard node and exit node (or just have a birds eye view of the network) they would be able to deanonymize you with a high probability through traffic confirmation. That is why connecting to the VPN first would prove beneficial, as your guard node when then only see your VPN IP.
