New Windows Client v.47 Released
Hey all!
We've just released an updated version of our Windows VPN application, which you can find here: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/installer/download_installer_win
SHA-256 Checksum: 9863cf5b048f03a5b0b24e1eeed5a56cb11dd9131273164d0210e25b4d95139a
This new version (v47) introduces a number of new enhancements, as well as compatibility patches for the Windows 10 platform. The new changes are as follows:
1) Released an updated startup task setup, to correct the automatic startup of the application on Windows 10
2) Introduced the newer OpenVPN NDIS6 TUN/TAP driver, for use with Windows Vista and higher.
3) Added an overflow menu for regions in the application's system tray context menu, for easier display on smaller screen resolutions
4) Added a slow speed report submission form to the application's system tray context menu
5) Corrected an issue with the DNS Leak Protection option not restoring dynamic TCP/IP settings after disconnecting
We're currently working on an updated client for Mac OS X as well, and hope to have it available soon; thanks for bearing with us while we continue to optimize and improve your privacy and overall VPN experience!

However I have "Auto connect when app is started" checked and it doesn't, which doesn't give me a lot of confidence in regard to anything else.
Now v.47 is issued and what happens? Get connected, use for some minutes then DNS resolution problems, all sites become unreachable. Only solutions seems to be disconnect and try another node.
Also I see v.47 does not cover SP (I know, I know).
Can PIA pls trouble-shoort what is suddenly going on with DNS?
My Win-DOS flavor: 7, SP1, x64
Will the version 47 work on Windows XP or one should stay with v. 46?
Hi.
Really was excited to finally see a
new PIA release.
I am however a bit disappointed to the
fact that the new PIA release shares still the same problem with its
'VPN Kill Switch' feature and running under Windows. Even after
thorough details was provided, and bit of investigation on my part
and narrowed down greatly the issue. When disabling all IPv6
components except for IPv6 loopback interface via registry tweak -
https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/929852
... PIA 'VPN Kill Switch' feature is non-functional.
This was reported way back in June, and
this September release and still no fix.
I can confirm with what DeathStalker has said. If I awaken my computer from regular Sleep mode, exiting out of PIA software v.47 there's issue with the DNS Leak Protection feature not restoring dynamic TCP/IP settings.
This under Windows 7.
Enjoy!
The person I recommended PIA to, whom
is running Windows 10. PIA v.47 takes over couple of minutes before
it finally appears in the systray and almost another minute before
connection. Before the Windows 10 Upgrade, I uninstalled PIA
software. After Windows 10 Upgrade and bringing it up-to-date with WU
updates. PIA v.46 was installed, when PIA v.47 was released, I
uninstalled fully PIA v.46 and re-booted. Finally having manually
checked that everything was properly removed, I then installed PIA
v.47. Both versions of PIA shared the same symptom under Windows 10.
This major PIA start-up delay have
something to-do with ruby design?
But looks like you have broken startup in Win 7. It now takes 1-2 min to load VPN, to make it working. Unacceptable.
Rolling back to v46 which takes 5 sec only...
Therefore v4.7 is unusable, please fix it and test it more before releasing it to the public.
