Personally I don't think gay folks have any more control over their gender preferences than straight folks. Just shows how wonderfully varied life is. If I had a choice I'd choose to be Bisexual. That way I'd benefit from 100% potential partners rather than the 50% I like now.
But it's not a personal choice. I can't help the way I am so don't place that burden on others. What consenting adults do within the law is their business. Then we just have to hope the law is progressive.
