This new version (v.52) resolves an IP leak vulnerability that can be caused when users access forwarded ports on one of PIA's servers. We recommend all users to update to this version.

  • Thanks for the speedy response and fixes!
  • Any  information as to when a new version for us Linux users will be available please?

Any advice as to how we can protect ourselves from this problem in the mean time ?

    thanks

Version .52 still has the same issue I described in Version .47 :
    https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/comment/33966/#Comment_33966

And what it is worst, it gets disconnected while using uTorrent (v2.2.1) and using the PIA proxy for torrents.

Could someone please take a look at this ?
    Thanks
  • FYI:

Why has the update mechanism in the clients now stopped working.

I last updated onto .46 and have not seen an update message in the PIA settings since and only came to the PIA forums after 6 months just to actually check if there was an update and their have been a couple since then.

I'd like to see an answer to this question too.

  • What about individuals who use OpenVPN?
  • @bunklung
Native OpenVPN is not affected.  There were some server related issues that were patched but on the client side there is nothing you need to do.
  • @catcher749
A new Linux installer will be released soon.
  • One plus I've noticed with this new version is a more rapid recovery of the VPN after exiting windows sleep mode.
    Much appreciated.
  • @Support Thanks for the clarification!
  • Yes, that's good to know.
  • Thanks for the update.
I wish y'all would consider adding information like version/build to the installers' properties.....so that we can know what version/build we have without having to open 'settings' with PIA running. You know what I mean? Like add version/build info via metadata, so that users can right-click the installer, open Properties>Details and readily see the information.
  • I have just installed new Mac client. Seems to be working fine.

Is there any need to update the iOS version as well, with regards to this IP leak vulnerability?
  • I tried to download this stuff, and Chrome said it is potentially dangerous. I download through IE, cuz chrome blocks me.

And when I try to install it my AVG Internet Security said it is contaminated. (IDP.ARES.Generic)

    ...What happens? Is it okay?
