Windows phone 10

Hello,
I need help to set up PIA on my windows phone ( windows 10). I am adding this address: us-midwest.privateinternetaccess.comand my user name and password. But it fails the connection with this error:

The VPN connection failed with error code 691

I would appreciate some help.

Thanks.

  • Hey!

The error 691 means: Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain

When you were setting up the VPN connection on your Windows Phone did you log into the client login and generate the X username and password to use in the setup?

If not what you will do is to go to https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-sign-in  and log in using the P username and password that you would use for the application/site and then scroll down a little bit and choose to generate the PPTP/L2TP/SOCKS5 username and password.

If you are still unable to get this to work, please do not hesitate to contact us via live chats (https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/contact-us) or via a ticket (https://support.privateinternetaccess.com/Tickets/Submit)

    Thank you,

Thank you Meaghan, that did it :)
  • Hi, I'm using Windows 10 mobile (preview build). I've tried 2 different setups (both connect and work) but am leaking dns address. I've used the above insructions and have tried the "automatic" user and password selection offered by the phone. Any ideas?
  • I've the same issue any idea to solve this?
  • Hi marcourb

I apologize for the leaks that you are experiencing on your windows 10 mobile device.
Upon more research it would appear the DNS cannot be changed on a windows 10 mobile device without downloading a program to do it and unfortunately, this is outside of our realm of support.

Please feel free to check out the following link :

You can also check our other forum posts to see if any other users were successful in getting their windows 10 mobile to work.

My apologies for any inconvenience in this matter; should you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to send an e-mail to our support group at helpdesk@privateinternetaccess.com

    Thanks,
    PIA
