pfSense hardware build advise for AES256

Anyone here that is an expert in this area? If so, mind posting a good build?

I want at least two WiFi access point if possible so I can switch between two servers on two different WiFi access point. Need at least 500Mbps AES256 speed.

Thank you

  • Dear lord... Please tell me that is a typo and you meant 50 Mbps?

The PIA servers are gigabit servers, so meeting that requirement would use up more than half the bandwidth of one of the servers.

And besides that, I did not think there was any consumer level wireless network options that could provide that much speed. I use gigabit Ethernet in my home, so I could be wrong about that.
  • Future proofing. I think Intel Atom with QuickAssist can do that.

Maybe, I will reduce 500mbps to 100mbps. lel
  • That makes far more sense. I honestly do not know that you can build anything that can do what you want at this time. The bottleneck is the wireless requirement. And possibly the Atom CPU itself since it is bad at floating point mathematics. But I do not own one, so I cannot test it to know for sure if it can or not.

The pfsense website has lots of hardware options.  They can also recommend sizing options based on your needs.  Not sure if any of the embedded CPUs or even the AMD Kabini CPUs could push that much data via VPN.
