computer question...any ideas anyone??
I'm so curious it's driving me nuts...I have an Acer laptop..never had any problems with it...on Tuesday I shut down my laptop before I went to bed...when I got up Wednesday afternoon I turned it on and Windows came up as normal (icons and all) but I had no on screen cursor and my keyboard wouldn't work....I couldn't enter any commands so I hard booted it with the power button...after a long wait Windows came back up but again no cursor or keyboard (note I said on screen cursor not mouse so nothing was locked)...after trying to hard reboot it at least 20-30 times in a 6-7 hour time frame, I finally just accepted something must have died and went out and bought a new laptop which I really couldn't afford, as I needed a computer....after bringing the new laptop home, I powered up my old laptop and tried a few more times...nothing...same no cursor. no keyboard...finally I unplugged it ( it was plugged in if that's important, with an Ethernet cable ) and set it aside...after setting up my new laptop for a few hours, I realized there was a program on my old laptop I couldn't remember the exact name of, so I thought well at least I can look at the icon on my old laptop and get said info...so I powered on my old laptop (no power cord or Ethernet cable this time) and you guessed it...it came right on and worked perfectly...WTF?? I shut it down and turned it back on several times...perfect...plugged it back in...perfect.....been 3 days now and it's working great....I checked event logs..nothing...drivers all updated...windows updated...I even restored it back to 6 days before as a precaution...I'm glad it's working and I'll be returning the new laptop in a few days if it keeps working but I'm so confused...what happened? guy at the computer store thought my processor went ( obviously not )...another weird thing is after it started working my Panda antivirus icon disappeared and Chrome wouldn't come on...I had to reinstall both..when I reinstalled Panda, it immediately said it quarantined a Trojan...is that what happened? was it a Windows issue? is it a computer issue? I researched online and I can't find one article where someone has had the same problem....I'll take any thoughts or observations...thanks in advance!!
