just signed up on Mac El Captain, how do I make sure I'm protected now?

See the subject.  I just signed up on Mac El Captain, I have the robot icon on my screen however anytime I click connect I just get a screen popping up asking for me to give me password so it can modify things.  After I do that about 6 times it goes away.  How can I tell its working and I'm protected?

    You sound very new to the Mac world. I assume by "password" you're talking about your admin password. You shouldn't have to keep entering you admin password just to modify the PIA app settings. In Finder select the PIA app and do a Get Info. Change "Permission" of "everyone" to "Read & Write."
