PPTP or P2P Torrenting Protection?

If I am using my PPTP username and password to create a VPN connection through Windows 10 instead of using the PIA client, will I still be safe from torrenting since I have my VPN through windows? When I go and look at Whats My IP websites, most show that my IP has changed but a small amount do not, which leads me to believe that I am not fully protected, am I?
