v59 causes permanent discrete graphics switching on older Macbooks

Looks like the cool new notification graphics causes the Macbook Pro to switch to Discrete Graphics, as long as the VPN is running (connected or not). I have to exit the program to switch back to Integrated graphics to save power. Not to mention that on my old MBP, the discrete graphics card causes some system instability.

I have gone back to v58, and unfortunately, can't upgrade unless they fix this issue. At least an option has to be given to disable notifications so the switch does not happen. This is a deal breaker for me to continue using PIA!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I have a workaround, but since I don't have a macbook with discrete graphics I can't test right at this moment. If you could give this a try let me know if it works and I'll include the fix in the next release:

I've patched a single file to fix your issue, to apply the patch,

1. Install v60 (It is released earlier today)

2. Make sure it's closed

3. Open your terminal and run this command:

curl "https://gist.githubusercontent.com/anonymous/842775877342257e8882fc8ea2a9a8a8/raw/25448d732619304f1d3948bb3ec4dea32ed1d611/package.json" ~/.pia_manager/pia_tray_files/package.json

It should all be in one line like this:

and once you're done, start PIA again. Do let me know if this works.
