VPN doesnt change IP Adress on galaxy s7

edited July 2016 in Android VPN Setup
Hey

I've been trying to find a solution for this all day with no luck. I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s7 using the PIA app. I log in fine, and it connects and everything seems to be working great. However, when i go in firefox to check my ip (I've tried many different sites) none of them get the VPN IP adress - it just doesnt work.

Any ideas?

  • Hello,

Log-in to your mobile PIA client - settings and scroll down - Choose programs that can work with PIA or something like that, turn FireFox on, restart your galaxy and results should be OK :)
  • Unfortunately I tried that, and it had no effect. Also, the setting seems to be for apps that should NOT use pia (apps that are to be allowed to connect directly)?
  • Yeah, I checked again - that setting is for apps that should connect WITHOUT the vpn. Anyways, to be sure I did try it both ways - no luck at all.
  • BUT the next page says: Enable VPN per app.
  • And now there's a new update both for the pc and android

Just got a new RCA tablet today...same thing...says it's connected, the app says my ip is in mexico, but when i check whatsmyip or dnsleak, it shows my ISP IP...no matter what server or country i try...it worked fine on my old tablet 3 days ago...i tried changing all kinds of settings and nothing is working...its almost an identical tablet to my old one...I got so frustrated i downloaded betternet to check and it changes my IP fine so its a PIA issue...I'm so irritated...any ideas...p.s. my previous RCA tablet was set up exactly the same and it worked fine on there
  • Hey,

Check google play store, there is an updated version 1.2.4(50) it fixes this issue.
  • @alex1911 yup that did the trick...uninstalled app AGAIN...checked to make sure it was version 1.2.4(50) this time...reinstalled..connected and boom...everything showing VPN IP now...even browser saying I'm in another country...cool!!
  • Nice to hear it Moshbeast.

I really want that PIA stuff test a little bit longer all clients before uploading them to servers / play store.
