uTorrent Not Connectable after Blowfish change

Since updating the PIA app to 63 which removed Blowfish uTorrent has always gone into a Not Connectable state, red X.  Previously it always read connectable with no issues, green checkmark.  No changes have been made to the router, modem and PC, all the ports are forwarded correctly.

The only thing I can think of that has changed is Blowfish being removed.  I've tried different combos on the Encryption UI and nothing has worked.  Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution?

I've tried this, it didn't help.

My current hypothesis is that the port forward request supposed to be sent from the PIA app isn't functioning correctly.

Testing the ports without being connected via PIA was successful.  The problem appears to lie within the PIA app.
  • In the meantime I'm going to have to resort to using the Socks5 connection only until this issue is addressed.  I really hope the support team looks into this.
  • noname1552 , had the exact same problem, I was on blowfish, I'm even using qbittorrent too, and brought the issue up with the support team, but they are still no further , and I only got it working 30 mins ago

The issue was for me, like you said, but to elucidate, as soon as the first bits (few seconds) of torrent would download, the connection is lost.

A few things here, I am unsure why qbittorrent does not resume after the pia client automatically reconnects, and I can't fix this.

The fix to your issue is... Tools > Options > Speed > under 'Rate Limit Settings',  uncheck "Enable uTP Protocol"  - The rest of my boxes below this were also unchecked.

Also, on mine Tools > Options > Bit Torrent > under 'Privacy', set 'Encryption Mode:' to 'Prefer encryption' <- this may not be necessary as it was already set like this on mine, but may or may not work in conjunction with the one above?

Shut down qbittorrent and restart. Downloads take longer to start (about 5 mins) - long enough to think I had not fixed it and started to look here for answers, then it started - but once going are fine.  If you are still having problems, there might be a config txt file in qbittorrent that I could paste here..... but I have not looked into this.

If I were a suspicious person, I would think that they are checking for UTP protocol people, and automatically disconnecting them ???

Feel free to ask, if needed. I am not a frequent visitor here, so do not expect a prompt reply. Regards
  • Bumping this back up as the issue is still present even with v65 of the app.

Having read through the forum it's clear many other paying users are having these issues.  I would really like to know if someone at PIA is looking into this.
