utorrent settings please??

The following is purely for research purposes. I do not condone illegal torrenting or sharing of copyrighted materials.

In theory what utorrent options below would need to be ticked on utorrent 3.4.8 when running the VPN.

Options > Preferences > connection

Enable upnp port mapping
Enable Nat/pmp port mapping
Proxy server - use?

Options > Preferences > BitTorrent

Enable DHT network
Enable DHT for new torrents
Enable peer discovery
Enable bandwidth management
Enable UDP tracker support
Ask tracker for scrape information
Enable peer exchange
Limit local peer bandwidth
Protocol encryption
Allow incoming legacy connections

You'll want to disable uPnP and NAT-PMP port mapping. No need to enable proxy server unless you're using the proxy.

Hello all,

I'm new on this forum. I'm using iMac - el capitan and just started to use pia vpn (no proxy). I did all settings (socks5 / proxy-nl.privateinternetaccess.com / port:1080 / user name and pw cam from regenerate section pf pia) on uTorrent bu I can't download any torrent. I'm able to use my internet in the browser without any issue.

make sure that you have entered the right socks5 username and password. It is not the same as your PIA credentials. usually x******  not p****** and your socks5 generated password

I just did exactly how suppose to be but not working and now using vuze instead of utorrent
