FireTV and PIA - Torguard

Right, I have both PIA and Torguard - sorry for mentioning another company - why does Torguard work on the FireTV without rooting, just the normal android app and PIA won't?

I love PIA and I want to use it but the app won't work. Does anyone know the technical details why one works but others won't?
