iMessage Does Not Work with PIA Using Apple AirPort Extreme

Hi,

I use iMessage on my late 2014 Macbook Pro with macOS Sierra installed. I recently switched from a Netgear router to the Apple AirPort Extreme router. When I was on the Netgear router with the default configuration I was able to use iMessage with PIA enabled or disabled.

The issue is now that I've switched to the Apple AirPort Extreme router with default configurations, iMessage does -not- work when PIA is enabled. As soon as PIA is disabled I'm able to send/receive iMessages immediately. What is the fix so that I can use iMessage with PIA enabled?
