Speeds throttled when torrent starts?
Totally confused here, wondering if it's my ISP? Doesn't make sense as traffic should be encrypted, perhaps someone can enlighten me.
While connected to a VPN endpoint:
- I get good speeds (150 Mbps). I can run a speed test and everything looks good.
- If I start a torrent, my performance drops to 2Mbps, running a speed test can confirm something close to 2-10Mbps though.
- Poor speeds persist until I disconnect, then reconnect to the same VPN endpoint.
- Running the same torrent(s) go at full speeds, no slow downs, speed tests are happy and as expected.
Network drivers are up to date direct from manufacturer, running Win 10, and haven't bothered changing my torrent client as it does not seem to be the issue uTorrent 2.2.1.
Have also tried diff routers, still no dice.
For the life of me I can't figure this out, I'm starting to think it is my ISP. I've visited a friend's early on in my IPA days and do not recall seeing this issue from their ISP. Haven't had a chance to check again. Will try from a different PC soon too.
Any insight would be appreciated, perhaps time to try some different VPN clients?
