uTorrent, Fine for a week, now at like 10kbps or lower, entire Internet runs slow...

Long story I was using PIA for a week and things were fine. No problems whatsoever, didn't have to change any settings in anything, etc.

This Saturday however, I tried to download a torrent from my usual site, and boom, the moment I started it was at like 10kbps. I thought "Hey, maybe it's my actual Internet?" rebooted modem, nope. Turns out anytime I'm torrenting with PIA on I'm like a dead snail. Eventually it times out to like 0.1kbps. Torrenting without the VPN was fine though. Sometimes if I'd connect without being on the VPN, stop the download, connect to VPN and restart the download it'd be fine.

I played with some settings as shown here, plus set my port as 8080 and udp as suggested on some reddit threads and things seem to be fine... for now, maybe? Anyways, I'm just curious what the heck is causing this and how I can prevent it from happening? If it happens again what are my options? Any thoughts?

    I'm having the same issue. While not connected through PIA I am getting 5-7mb/s (yes, megabits) and when connected downloads start at 40-50kb/s then die off to nothing in under a minute. All other web browsing results in DNS errors.

    Windows 7 Pro. Utorrent 3.4.2

    You're not alone.  I've been having the same issue for a while now as have many others since blowfish was removed.  I've found using the Socks5 connection tends to be half decent work around but I'd much prefer PIA working right again.

    I have been able to localize the issue to the PIA app itself as when it's not running uTorrent works perfectly.  The problem is with the PIA app and the guys at PIA seem to show no interest in fixing this issue.  Very frustrating for a service we all pay for.

    Went on hols for 2 weeks from 2nd to 15 Nov.

    Before that torrent speeds were fine.

    Since returning, torrent speeds pathetic as noted by above posters.

    Just updated app to v65 - seems worse than v63  was using.

    Funny thing is, I dloaded Linux Tails distro from Distrowatch and got 592KiBs with vpn and 1.2MiBs without vpn using qbittorrent without any changes from prior to hols.

    Have had app show 'NULL" when supposedly connected, lengthy stalls beginning
    torrent dloads etc.

    Just did PIA Speedtest of Sydney Server and got 11.61 Mbps - I'm on ADSL2+ 1500 yet have 2 torrents dloading at 19kB/s and 34kB/s both having over 50 peers - 20+seeders.
