Settings for VPN connection without encryption.

edited December 2016 in VPN Setup Support
Hi,

I want to setup PIA VPN without encryption on a linux machine using OpenVPN.

I'm using ovpn files provided by PIA. If I turn off cipher and/or auth I cannot connect anymore.

You list your ports for various encryptions on your helpdeks articles, but there is no mention of what to use without encryption. I want to use something like your "All Speed No Safety" preset.

  • See if you can use a PPTP connectiontherough network manager instead. It's very little, crappy encryption. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/ubuntu10.10-pptp
  • Thank you for suggestion but I would just like to run it with OpenVPN but without encryption. Like it is marketed by PIA on their webpage.

It's a raspberry pi machine which won't be able to saturate 100Mbit if any encryption is used.

It's not going to happen. Only the desktop client can perform this task, apparently. So your only choice is to use a lower encryption rather then none. Or set up the SOCKS5 proxy and use that.

I agree there should be a no encryption port/config for plain OpenVPN.

I dont need my traffic encrypted, just to "originate" somewhere else.
