Avast VPN might interfere with PIA
Please distribute to all PIA customer service techs.
It has come to my attention that an August 2016 update of the Avast antivirus software installed a VPN which was automatically turned on, which might interfere with PIA. Symptoms include:
- PIA takes a long time to connect (more than 2 minutes).
- PIA can lose connection randomly.
These are the steps to turn off the Avast VPN.
- Right click the Avast icon in the system tray. Choose Open Avast Window.
- On the far upper right there is a gear, click it once to open the settings window.
- On the left of the Avast window, click the Components tab.
- Scoll down, find the Secureline VPN, and turn it off.
- Click OK until you exit all Avast screens.
- Reboot the PC.
PIA is working much better for me now.
