Plusnet email via Thunderbird

Hi. I'm having problems sending (but not receiving) emails when connected to PIA on my phone and while using Thunderbird on my Windows laptop. Both clients are supposed to send a username and password to send emails when nout using a Plusnet (my ISP) connection. These settings work correctly for sending when I'm not connected to PIA's VPN, but not when connected. Any ideas on how to get round this issue? I can disconnect to send emails, the reconnect, but it's a bit of a pain.

PIA blocks SMTP port 25.  If you need that to send mail, it's not going happen over the PIA network.

On their website it says: Outgoing port 587 (recommended) or 25 Do PIA block port 587 too?

Just checked. I did have it set on port 25. I'll change it and try again.

Thanks for that. I've got it working on Thunderbird on my laptop. Now to see if I can change the port on my Android phone client.

Strangely it was already on 587 on my phone.

I've got a work around for my phone. The Android app allows you to let induvidual apps bypass the VPN. It means my email isn't as secure, but I can live with that,
