    Isn't that what the PIA app is?  Or what the OpenVPN app is?  You turn on the VPN when you want it on and turn it off when you want it off?

    Additionally, while I can't really recommend it, you could also use the private local API the PIA app speaks to talk to its backend to send the connect and disconnect commands if you wish.

    Do you have any programming knowledge on how to make Mac applications, or is this just a generic question?
