Maintenance post-mortem - December 28th, 2016

Dear Private Internet Access users,



Over Christmas weekend, we noticed that varied client versions across all platforms were randomly dropping connections. After investigating the cause, we discovered that the disconnections were happening because of a server upgrade which we have since reversed.



On December 28th, 2016, we performed maintenance on our servers to fix intermittent connection issues. A security upgrade that was previously applied had some unknown compatibility issues. Once we identified these, we rolled back changes and implemented a fix.



Unfortunately, some of our users experienced random disconnections during this time. Rest assured that at no point was the privacy or security of Private Internet Access servers compromised.



Even though the impact was minimal to our existing customers, we want to apologize to those whom were affected by this.
