VPN speed so slow it is useless on Windows

When I connect using the PIA Windows client, with encryption disabled completely, my connection speed tanks. Just now I got 10.94 Mbps connecting to US East, while off VPN I get 61.27. This translates into download speeds through sabnzbd of ~ 200Kbps, which is painful, considering when I disconnect from PIA, it jumps up to about 3.3Mbps on average. I even tried PPTP just for fun but as expected, that's even slower.

Any ideas?  This is a wired connection to my RT-AC66 Router running DD-WRT.

    Try different access points.  I've had good speeds on CA Toronto and CA Montreal

    Connecting with no encryption shouldn't cause any speed drops at all, other than those related to distance and latency.  It should be negligible at best, unless that particular server was overloaded.

    I'm confused.  You say you are connecting via the Windows Client, but then oyu mention your AC66 with DD-WRT.  So are you running PIA via the windows client or your router?
