Can't access a lot of websites if DNS leak protection is on

Hello. I am using windows 10 64 bit and am connected through ethernet. I have the latest PIA v.66 version. I have had a problem where while connected, many websites like Gmail, Outlook.com, facebook, reddit, and netflix, etc. all won't load and say they can't find the DNS. It is also super slow. I disabled the DNS leak protection, which also made me disable PIA MACE. The problem was fixed. However, aren't I losing protection by disabling those? I don't want someone to be able to hack through the VPN or something like that. What do they do and how much protection am I losing by disabling those? Is there a way to make it so it works fine while it is enabled? Thank you.

  • Are you seeing this on the UK based PIA connections? I have a similar thing, UK London and UK Southampton connections have DNS issues with certain sites, but if i connect using France or US East - no problems e.g. http://www.incapsula.com/ cannot be found via UK London, but is perfectly fine via France Also Ubisoft uPlay complains of "connection issues" via UK PIA
  • Same problem here, cannot connect through gmail links and some websites - michaelbuble.com is one example (dont ask !).
