slowness on fridays

I got the service a few months ago and mostly use teamviewer to connect and everything has been great. Then all of a sudden about 3-4 weeks ago i started having major lag issues just connecting to teamviewer, but only on fridays. Yesterday i connected fine and the vpn was running normally, but now today just like the last 3-4 fridays it takes minutes to connect and the mac is extremely slow to respond. I finally sat through the pain and started checking activity monitor and looking for a cause to no avail. Nothing including the vpn process was using too much cpu or memory or even network traffic. When i forced quit the vpn, even though i was not connected it instantly went back to normal. So something with the vpn and seemingly only on fridays is causing major lag. Until today i was just restarting the machine and that would also fix it. Is there something that happens weekly that would cause latency issues? Does the vpn software being connected for days have problems routing after a while? Im not sure why this wasnt an issue for a month and now it is, but its such a pain and its happenign every single friday morning now. It take s me about 10 minutes to get through all the clicks needed to restart the machine, then another 5-10 for it to reboot and get everything reconnected. thanks

  • i figured i was good after force quitting so i didnt try restarting the vpn before posting. Now i have and the machine is right back to heavy lag and the vpn doesnt seem to be starting properly. Hopefully a restart fixes this.
  • restart and reconnect to vpn and the problem is fixed. So something with leaving the vpn connected for days causes a problem, but there isnt any kind of setting to auto disconnect after x amount of time or refresh connection. A restart is the fastest way to fix this which for a service i pay for is a bit annoying.
  • every freakign friday this is happening. Got it all fixed last friday and ahvent touched anything or logged in with teamviewer and now once AGAIN the machine is slow and unresponsive until i restart. I ahve no idea why after days of being up on the vpn it just craps out and needs a restart!!!!!
  • Hey @nogoer

Thank you for posting in our forums! We apologize for the speed issues that you seem to be experiencing and are more than happy to take a look into this matter for you!

-Where are you seeing the slow speeds exactly (torrents, etc)?
-What speeds are you actually seeing (with and without the VPN active)?
-What operating system are you running on your device(s)?
-Are you running any firewalls or other security software on your device(s)?
-How are you connecting to the internet (public wifi, you own router, an ISP's modem, etc)?
-How are you connecting to VPN (our PIA application, a manual setup, another application, etc)?

We're hoping to hear from you!
