Connection shared through laptop isn't behind VPN

I've set up my laptop Windows 10 (connected to wifi) as a wifi hotspot and have PIA running. On my computer whatsmyip shows up as the correct false ip. But my xbox and iphone both show the actual ip. I used command prompt to make the hotspot.

The hotspotting software is likely sharing the primary network adapter's and not the TAP adapter.
