Chrome Extension Blocking Chrome Apps

I recently installed the PIA Chrome Extension, and it's working great for every website I've been to, but Chrome apps like Signal and Chrome Remote Desktop will not connect while it is active.  I tried disabling Block WebRTC, Block Adobe Flash and PIA MACE, and exempting the Chrome Remote Desktop IP and the IP of the computer I was connecting to, but none of that seemed to work.  Has anyone run into a similar problem or found a workaround?

    Yup. Confirmed here, too. Running the Chrome extension on a ChromeBook and no joy. IIR it works with the native VPN solution posted on reddit. Came here hoping to find a fix.

    Same here.  Have to drop back to the native VPN solution that PIA now says is insecure.
