If you are currently connected to the VPN when torrenting and getting letters anyway that seems suspect.  I haven't gotten a letter since using PIA's proxy.  I don't use the VPN because it demolishes your speeds.  To use the proxy go to your main account page and at the bottom you'll see "generate username and password".  Enter those as seen here.

    Proxy : proxy-nl.privateinternetaccess.com
  • Thank You So I leave the vpn tuned off ?

can I use the same process on my sons computer or do I have to create a new user and password, It is on the same router ?

What process? We are not mind readers!
If you have the VPN installed on the "same " router, then nothing more to do,
If you are using the App, you need it on both PC's you can use the same account on up to three devices at the same time.

  • Hi Sorry for the Confusion  I was getting emails from Sky saying I had been downloading I was advised by someone in the forum to use Pia's Proxy and not the vpn which I have done the only question I had was that my son uses torrent sites also do I have to set his computer to proxy as well and create a different user name and password for his proxy or can I use the one I created for mine ?
    Regards

    This post answers your question.
  • OK Thanks
  • You can use it on up to 5 devices simultaneously
  • My guess is you had a the VPN on your PC and not also your sons. This is why you are getting the emails. You need the VPN program on all the PC's that will be downloading.

And make sure the VPN program is running when downloading.

For those using the proxy (like myself), if you are not using anonymous browsing, when you grab the torrent file from the website, that is how they got you.. not the downloading itself!

What I have found is using the Chrome extension which is protected for getting the files, and then the proxy to download the file, you are protected at both ends. Example: you go on a torrent webpage and click a link to download a file or even a magnetic link, that action is logged and so is your IP on the website which is how they find you.

Don't blame the proxy if your browser is not protected.

This is not true at all.
