VPN torrents slow down and cap speeds? And no response yet from support email

My internet speeds are normally around 85 to 90 Mbps. When I connect to the closest area using Private VPN, I still get these same speeds. But then moment I start to download any torrent, my internet speeds slow down by almost 10 to 20 times slower. The speeds only slow down when connected to Private Internet Access VPN and downloading the torrents. But when I download without being connected to the Private VPN, my speeds stay the same. How can I fix the slow speeds when I am connected to the VPN? It also seems that the torrent download speeds get capped at 900 kb/s when using the VPN.

I have the same problem. VPN works fine with about 100Mbps speed. I verified the traffic for the test was using the VPN. Soon as I start torrenting with Qbittorrent, speed maxes out at around 5 Mbps (oscillates up and down slightly).
  • @Wally Given the age of this thread, it's fairly possible that your issue is different than those above, but lets see:

Have you configured port forwarding in qBitorrent and also made sure that uTP is off? Both of these settings combined solved the majority of torrent issues right away.
