I am not a linux person, but it looks like you are not getting an IP address. For some reason, you loop address 127.0.0.1 is being selected by your system. Which configuration file are you using and is in the correct folder?

Also, the date on your log is 1970, Jan 1st. Fix that!

Im on windows! the linux part is from the log.
What do you mean by configuration file? I did a factory reset and just followed the tutorial.
Alsp tried this script with no success https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/345/setting-up-dd-wrt-openvpn-client

  • Are you sure you are logging in correctly? In other words, when I was trying to use OpenVPN on my router I kept getting errors and no connection. Found out I did a lot of cut and paste and did not really read what I was pasting. The part about user and password messed me up until I actually put my username and my password in the spot that said user and password. After that I got a connect status.

I would not recommend using or doing any scripts until you iron out the connection issue.

Also, I see you are using the install guidlines for older builds. May I suggest using the guidelines for newer builds. There is little difference. But the issue I had was switching between the two guidelines because in the current build guideline there were some windows that did not match. But I finally figured it out and it was about the login.

The configuration files I was talking about is moot. I thought you were trying to install OpenVPN on your machine, not using your router. Sorry about that.
  • No problem. Yes Im using the older guide because the newer one has some fields that I do not habe on the ddwrt version im using. The user and pass info is correct. Will try everything again later and seenhow it goes. Thanks.
  • Ok, everything Works if I just plug the router with the VPN setup on it to the modem. The issue only occurs when I try to plug it into the first router. Is there any special setup I have to follow in order to achieve this? So far this is what I got:
1 - Router B (secondary router with the VPN configuration) connected to router A (main router) through the WAN or LAN port = internet but no VPN connection.
2- Router B connected straight to the modem = Internet and VPN connection.

  • Glad you got it working. Sorry about the multiple routers. I don't use that type of configuration
