OpenVPN performance to PIA running on BT Homehub 5A
I've setup my BT Homehub 5A router running LEDE (Open-WRT) to connect the PIA servers using OpenVPN using AES-128-CBC cipherspec.
I'm seeing that the openvpn process is pegged at about 90% CPU and the overall system CPU is about 40% (therefore two processors I think).
Throughput as shown by speedtest.net is at best about 9.4Mbps when the tunnel is active, while it is about 53Mbps when the VPN is not running.
What can I do to get better performance? I'm prepared to give up a little security to get better performance. Would BF-CBC be any faster?
Thanks
Dave
