Are we safer with PIA?

With these ransom viruses going around the Net, are we safer with PIA, or are we more at risk, or are we the same? What do you think?

  • Ok. I'll acknowledge the elephant in the room. I will answer your question with a question. Do you use PIA to download torrents?
Most ransomware gets onto your computer either via email or by downloading torrents, particularly those containing pirated content.
  • If you follow the wrong link or stupidly open a malicious executable, you're in trouble, whether or not you're on a VPN. I'd definitely say no, you're not safer on PIA or any other VPN.

I'm at a point where I don't open ANY unrecognized URLs or attachments. This causes problems at home and at work. I've missed meetings because a vendor has sent an invitation that uses a domain I didn't recognize. Oh well, deleted. People send me a PDF? If I don't expect it, that's going goodbye.

I can also no longer accept unrecognized incoming calls, because the number of scam calls is unbearable. No VPN-type service will help this.

Scumbags really are taking over our lives...
