Setting up a Virtual VPN Client Using Asus Stock Firmware!

I have done a search and did find some information on this but I am having problems setting the VPN up via my new router, I want to set it up as a client and Open VPN.

I have an Asus DSL-AC68U wireless-AC1900 modem/router.

i have read countless articles on this, I did try getting the VPN to work via the router and the ticked box seemed to suggest it was working but there was no internet access so I must have done something wrong.

i would rather not put Advanced Tomato firmware on the system, mind you I did try, I just got a notice saying the firmware was invalid thus I would like to try setting the client up within the router using the latest Asus firmware.

Any help appreciated, if PIA has instructions on how to do this I would be grateful if someone could point me to them, as I said earlier I did put the .ovpn and .ca files in the router, I got a tick saying it had worked but there was no live internet connection, perhaps a setting within the router needs changed for this to work but I am clueless as to what setting.

what would really help is a step by step procedure and some info on what to change within the router to make it all work using the official Asus firmware.

I hope someone has this info....thanks.
