  • Hey,
i tried to use this socks5 with ubuntu and proxychains!

    BUT!!!!!!

    i get always this msg:

    |S-chain|-<>-109.201.152.251:1080-<><>-4.2.2.2:53-<--denied

    any ideas?

  • Is it normal for the Socks 5 proxy to be so fast?
I hit 5MB/s last night and was hitting 2 MB/s most of the night.

Meanwhile, on the VPN, I'm lucky to get over 1MB/s, especially during the day.  Is that normal?

yes its normal as the proxy does not have any encryption on it, therefore, the speeds are relatively higher compared to the VPN.
  • Is it safe if I use this in the IE connection settings? Does this make my whole system run through this proxy and can I use PIA vpn client over it?

    Thanks
I am not too sure whether if you can use the proxy with the IE connection settings as the socks5 proxy needs to be authenticated. Also, if the settings do allow you to use the proxy then the proxy is limited to that program only, unless of course if you are using 'proxifier (sticked)'.
  • The
best Proxy experience I had in a very long time https://www.iwasel.com/en/ .
I managed to hide my IP adress and unblock websites directly with just one
click application. It is not easy to find a real good Proxy.

That is not a f****** proxy. That is a competing VPN. I would be mnore upset if I did not think there is a chance you mistakenly posted that.

They also cost twice as much as PIA.

    Proxy is down now :-(
    downstairs? not again

    PROXY COME BACK UP
  • Sorry for the issues guys. Everything should be good now and I'll keep an eye on this thread.
  • So if the proxy goes down in the middle of a download will it cause me to have a connecting to peers issue?  Also after it comes back up should that issue resolve?

This depends on how your client handles the loss of the proxy while it is running. In most cases, so long as the trackers are known and the peers exist before the interruption, the client will act as if nothing changed at all. (Peers always exist, but in this case I mean that they are known to exist by the client.)
  • When the proxy is down, you *SHOULD* have connection issues. If you can still connect to other peers, it means that you aren't actually protect by the proxy.

A proxy connection needs to be established before it can be used to carry data. Your application should automatically try to reconnect, but the intervals in which it tries might get long (maybe hours).
  • Is the Proxy offline again?

I can't get a connection and a quick port check here at http://ping.eu/port-chk/ says "closed".
  • Offline for me too . Can't download .
  • Seems to be back again.
  • Offline for me.
  • Offline for me too.
  • Down for me too :-(

For almost a year it was working without fail and now it is down for the second time in matter of days...
  • There is another thread in which problems with the DNS updates were mentioned. Contact support to receive IP addresses.
Again, servers are online (I have an active connection which has been open and uninterrupted for hours).

It sounds as if you were in the middle of a busy street and got naked all of sudden. :((
With the proxy server down so often, one is asking for too much trouble.
The proxy server is not ready for the prime time.
  • How do I fix my Proxy connection.

    Showing error

Proxy connect error: connection closed by peer
  • Bell, what application are you trying to use with the proxy? How is it configured for proxy use?

I'm using it with utorrent. This is my second year using this great VPN so I had it all setup and running but just a few days ago it stopped. I did install the ESET antivirus if that has something to do with it or not idk.

It most likely does, try disabling your antivirus and see if that changes anything. Also check out this thread: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/988455

  • Anything else I can try? I disabled the antivirus and it didn't solve the issue

Just for certainty, try temporarily uninstalling the AV program altogether. You can always reinstall it if it does not help. I have in the past noticed that some AV suites arbitrarily interpret "disable" as something that does not have the literal meaning, but rather only disables part of what it does.

I am guessing you already checked the links @tardisonline put in his post?
  • Well I uninstalled the ESET and still having the same issue. Maybe the Proxy is down IDK. Should I use a IP address instead of using the proxy-nl.privateinternetaccess.com? If so, which IP?

Also is there instructions for setting up Firewall Rules for when the VPN drops? Sorry probably posted here somewhere I just schemed through the thread.

    Thanks again.
