No tray icon on Gnome Desktop

edited November 5 in Linux VPN Setup Posts: 3
I switched to Gnome and there is no longer a tray icon of any sort. Since I already setup the client the vpn autoconnects and is working, but I am not able to open to client or any settings myself. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: I've tried many suggested fixes as there seems to be a lot of people with this issue, but nothing worked until I installed TopIcons Plus gnome extension. This is they only way that worked for me, hope it helps some of you.

when you tried "many suggested fixes", did that include making sure particular software packages are installed? i'm thinking the install of the gnome extension triggered the install of a 'missing' package.

good tip, in any case, especially for those not so good at checking package install status.
