PIA Server Connection Question

I'm all set up with my VPN connecting through the California server.
My question is: as recommended by PIA I should connect through a server that is closer to me.
I know where and how to change the server name but don't know if there is a security certificate needed or not.  If so where do I get it?
If so where do I put this information?

    No need to change certificates, at least not unless you also change the port. All regions are configured identically. Each server has a certificate signed by our main CA which is the only certificate file you need to validate all servers.

    This helpdesk article has a full list of what port is used for each encryption and certificate settings.

    If you're using the app, you shouldn't have to worry about any of this: the app does everything needed for you with the appropriate signatures and certificates. Just pick a region and enjoy!
