Firefox not working after VPN configuration

Hello,
I started the VPN service today, and initially installed the client provided for a simple configuration. I turned on the kill switch, however later I decided to for the openVPN option. Now, I uninstalled the client software which was installed before I installed openVPN.

After I restarted my computer, I noticed Firefox would not connect through to any sites. I have a wired connection and it showed a stable connection. I tested Chrome, and it seemed to be working fine.
Issue: Everything else works. However, I'm unable to do anything in Firefox (directly writing the ip address in the address bar doesn't work either). I have reinstalled countless times, including deleting all local data (profiles as well inside the User/AppData folder). Nothing works. I have flushed the DNS cache. Run the net sh reset command via the cmd prompt. Checked the adapter settings. Checked the proxy settings for Firefox. Nothing seems to work. If anyone has any idea how I can make Firefox work again, I'd really appreciate it. I use it to sync data across all my devices and although Chrome is great, I prefer Firefox for some of the extensions I use.
Thank you!

  • Please check if you find any firewall rules regarding Firefox. There really shouldn't be any issues after uninstalling, but who knows.

Please note this will cause you to lose all your settings. Leaving this here in case it helps anyone else avoid learning the hard way. "VPN kill switch" is kind of an important setting to not accidentally lose.

    That's a very useful comment on a thread that's 3.5 years old :P

That's a little agressive, Max - be careful, Snowmonster will be along to give you a "strike"!
