No internet after connecting PIA?!

HI there,

Recently bought a 1 year prescription but till now didnt get the program to work.
After connecting PIA my internet is totally blocked. Nothing is working. Tried multiple servers but no luck.
I have windows 10 and running ESET Nod Antivirus. Dont know if that has anything to do with PIA not working?
Anyone here who can help me out on this because till now i only have regrets spending 40 bucks for something that isnt working :(

Thanks in advance!

  • Well im a step further now after an afternoon of google.
Seems like my modem is set to ipv6 instead of ipv4.
When i turn off the "Ipv6 leak protection" in the settngs internet is working (partially). Some sites still dont work but its working...
I read i can ask my ISP to change ipv6 to ipv4, but i dont know if thats a good thing to do.
Anyone who can help me out on this? Is it wise to change this?

    Thanks!
  • Hello!

This is likely not because of IPv6 as PIA would not connect at all if you only had IPv6. What's likely happening is that something is causing PIA to not run properly on your system, and since PIA only supports IPv4 disabling IPv6 leak protection makes some website to work because you end up reaching them on IPv6 while IPv4-only sites still don't work.

The easiest way to troubleshoot this would be to submit a debug log, as it will likely tell us precisely what's going on so we can directly address this.
  • Hi Max,

    Thanks for your response.

Ok ok. I thought it was because of the Ipv6 setting.  I tried connecting on my laptop, Phone and tablet and none of them are working when i turn on PIA.

But im at work now so tonight when im home i will make a debug log and post it here.

    Thanks for your help

  • Hi Max,

    I just submitted a ticket ( E A B 5 3)
Hope you can take a look at it :)

    Thanks!!

  • Thanks for the log, makes troubleshooting so much easier!

So, I can confirm you have both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity. That makes great sense as the IPv6-only Internet is still quite small outside of a few giants like Google, Facebook and Microsoft.

One potential issue I see with your setup is that you have two connections: your wired one and your wireless one. The PIA app and OpenVPN both are somewhat know for getting confused when that happens as they try disabling one interface to redirect to the VPN and the other interface takes over, making the VPN non-functional. Can you try turning off WiFi and see if it helps?

Also make sure both DNS Leak Protection and IPv6 Leak Protection are enabled, as in your case it looks like you'll need both otherwise you may still leak some ways due to IPv6.
