Connecting to a local PC that is connected to the VPN

edited January 2018 in P2P Support
Hey guys,

Just wondering how I can connect to a local PC remotely if it is connected to the VPN. If I understand correctly, it's local IP won't work if it's connected to the VPN, correct? The PC is running Windows 7 with the PIA client.

Update: I'll give split tunneling a try https://blog.lan-tech.ca/2013/02/21/access-local-and-vpn-network-simultaneously/

Cheers

  • I don't think this will work because PIA is a standalone client, you're not using the windows VPN client that those instructions apply to.  I'm in a similar boat myself and came across this post searching for a solution.  I don't think there is one for PIA, but I'm clinging to that small hope before I start looking at PIA alternatives.
  • I just replied to a very similar question, in short yes it's doable but it can get complicated fast. Basically you need to handle traffic aimed at your local service port to be treated differently so they don't route back into the VPN.
