Hardware acceleration appears to do nothing on Pfsense

I am setting up PIA on a Pfsense router.   Running the device with no hardware acceleration gives me 400-620 mb/s down and 200-350 mb/s up.  I turned hardware acceleration on and get the same thing.   I thought PIA had a gigabit VPN.   I am using AES-256-CBC.  Am I doing something wrong with setup or is this the limit of PIA hardware?

It could possibly be the limit of PIA hardware. Forgive me for asking, but have you also enabled AES-NI & BSD Crypto Device within System > Advanced > Miscellaneous?

Does your dashboard say AES-NI CPU Crypto: Yes (active)?

    Yes.  I am using a 7600K.
  • 400-600 Mbps is pretty good!

At those higher speeds, little details like latency, jitter and traffic management starts to really matter. But given gigabit servers, it seems also quite likely that the other 400 Mbps are used by the other users on that same server.

Have you tried reconnecting a few times to different IPs on the same region to maybe find a less busy server?
